Hooked and looped on stamps

Mounting stamps the HALOS way is simple. A basic set of clear acrylic mounts accommodates an unlimited amount of un-mounted rubber dies. By eliminating the wood, you will save money, storage space and time. You will be able to combine images together on one block, see where you are stamping, sort and find them easily, and have lots more stamps to play with and create. Because they are clear, stamps don't have to fit the mount precisely. They can be smaller or even overlap a bit and still print great.

The unique thing about the HALOS mounts is the recessed grooves, where strips of hook tape are inserted. The hook strips grab onto the loop tape that covers each stamp and provides a cushion. The loop tape raises the stamp up enough that the corners of the mounts do not get into your ink, and provides just the right support for great impressions. The contoured edges also make them extremely comfortable. They also work great to remount inexpensive foam sets.

You can also turn your mounts over and use the completely smooth side with temporary glues or static cling vinyl systems if you already have stamps you have converted to those systems. We have found that the HALOS system allows you to combine images and store them much more securely than any other system. Small hook pieces or entire strips of hook tape will hold your stamps securely in files or sheet protectors in notebooks. Sandra uses the strips of hook tape on pieces of plexiglass which are stored in flat files. Other people use pieces of the hook strips to hold their stamps on foam core mounted on stamp room walls, or even along the edges of the shelves that hold their wood mounted stamps. Some people also put the strips on clipboards which can be hung on a hook for easy access. There are a few surfaces that repel the adhesive, so before you put your storage system together, make sure the adhesion is secure. There are some erasers that people carve stamps from, that do not stick well to the adhesive, as well as some stamps that appear to be made from rubber, but are actually plastic. There are different qualities of loop tape -- HALOS is made for over 10,000 pulls.

Mounting your images:

Simply remove the paper backing from your loop tape, arrange your trimmed rubber stamps so as to utilize the tape to it's best advantage. Remember to save even the small pieces on the shiny side of the paper backing for future use on smaller images or to piece together for large stamps (trim the salvages before piecing the tape). The adhesive is sticky, so work on a smooth surface and lay the images out completely flat. A good pair of scissors makes cutting easy. KAI scissors are highly recommended. Before cutting coat the scissors Skin-So-Soft by Avon, glycerin or embossing fluid. This will assure that your cutting is effortless and you will not waste any of the surrounding pieces of tape. Should you get adhesive on your scissors, use a bit of WD40, lighter fluid or Skin-So-Soft to clean them off.
